Currently in Haida Gwaii, this is a diary of my times spent and the people that I meet. To most it will be a surf update, to others a spiritual assessment, and definitely fun to all.

March Madness

Thanks again to Mike for another nice shot of my fat ass on a wave. We've been really spoiled to have our own photographer snapping pics of us in the surf. Mike is planning to put things together and perhaps make some $$ for the stuff he does. We've got some great video footage of some of the nicer days as well and I hope to share that with you in the near future. As for surf, it's been a great week with surf nearly every day and one 10 footer day which was epic. Nice to get some big rollers coming in and keeping us sane. Too much time out of the water and you get too 'thinky' and find yourself working. Yuck. Speaking of work, it's been a busy time right now with getting the surf shop up and running and keeping the Haida play together, and now going into cahoots with my good friend Wendy and perhaps running a freaking hotel? The surf bum life may not be all it was if I find myself with a jobby job. Nonetheless, could be a good opportunity for us all.
Life in general has been ok, with some fun in the sun and keeping busy with projects. Looking forward to a nice trip home to the east coast this month to reconnect with friends and family. Stay cool and have fun.

Got Milk?

Gotta lov it. Just a little reminder of what it is to live at the edge of the world. We've been having huge southesters coming in over the last few weeks and with the wind comes ferry delay. This is not an uncommon scene to see the grocery store completely empty of milk and produce. That and the lack of electricity has gotten me into the world of soy milk, which is actually pretty good on your cereal in the morning. Try it if you haven't already.
Not too much else to report. Surf has been so-so over the last week with only 1 day of overhead in the past month. Starting to think that summer is upon us. Hope we get a few more swell days before the summer lull. Then again, welcoming the warm weather and sun worship in 12 degree days has been a nice change. Kiss my ass rest of canada! Enjoy your snow... heh heh...

These are a few of my favorite things

Lying in bed last night, I reflected on the three dominant sounds and how they were no doubt the three favorite things you love to hear... 1. Crackling fire 2. Rain on a tin roof and 3. The pounding of surf. I feel to be one of the luckiest people on the planet to have these natural sounds filling my soul. On top of that I'm able to enjoy the most wonderful of places and have great friends to spend this time with. The following are a few pics that my buddy Mike took while in the surf.
Having fun at the top of an 8 footer.
