Haida Bucks

Well, here is the place. Haida Bucks. Some of you may be aware that this place was sued by 'Starbucks' for copyright infringement a couple years back. It made CNN and everything. As you can see the suit was a farce and all is well on our little island. This lovely little longhouse is covered in wood as you can see and very well decorated with stuffed eagles and several prints of local artists. All in all a very pleasant place to stay. We're having a sushi/sashimi saturday this weekend so I think the local traffic should be coming by.
Other than the work thing, life has been pretty mellow. I picked up a hitchiker, as I do at least once a month and ended up dragging her out to the spit for an incredible journey. The winds were 40knot southerly and made it nearly impossible to even walk. What a hoot. Didn't find any glass balls that day but we're going to keep looking! My new friend Leanne (from Australia) thoroughly enjoyed the crazy weather and wild driving and no doubt made her trip. It is truly nice to meet so many people from off island that take the time to visit the islands. It really is a hassle to get here, so I think that picking these backpackers up and showing them a good time is really important because I know I would certainly appreciate it in my travels. As the summer wears on, we should be seeing a lot more of this.
