Currently in Haida Gwaii, this is a diary of my times spent and the people that I meet. To most it will be a surf update, to others a spiritual assessment, and definitely fun to all.

Can I get a room for 12...

Gotta love this sign. Looks like Brandon Manitoba has a vibrant nightlife! Wish I were only so lucky.... Thanks to the lovely Ms. Sorcha Masterson for this pic.
Well, life is moving along nicely with the restaurant on the weekends and I just secured a guiding gig for the summer so all is well on the job front. The wood has been flying through the house as it's been freezing temperatures over the last week, apparently par for the course in the rest of the country. Albeit we're not usually a very cold place, -7 is a frighteningly cold temperature for us around here. The pipes froze for a day, the power went out and my poor beer froze outside (my fridge). Oh well, life continues to be great. Surf was amazing last week with the day of my life on wednesday in 10-12 footers that I barrelled out in. Absolutely incredible surf that day. Only 3 of us managed to get the coconuts together to paddle out in it and it paid off. 15-20 rides of double overhead surf that went on forever with 15-20 second rides. Don't think it wasn't without punishment as I got caught a couple times on the inside and just got pummelled and held underwater for what seemed like an eternity. Those that braved the day were well rewarded and well worked. Hopefully we'll see a few more of those scary days to come.
