Happy Thanksgiving

Howa'a everyone again. Today's pic is a couple weeks old, so I hope you don't mind. It was a totem pole raising in the village that I was lucky enough to be part of. The totem was a dedication to a very popular carver in the area and a fitting specimen was in his honor. There were about 100 of us who essentially grabed one of 5 ropes you see pictured and pulled until this 60 ft cedar tree found it's way into a 10 ft hole in the ground. We kept it tight until they filled in the hole and that's where it will lie for eternity, or when an Albertan tries to buy it. There must be at least 20 poles on a stretch of road 3 miles long. From what I understand, they are all either markers of territory or dedications to individuals. Always amazing to see these specimens living beyond the time they were cut down.
Today for me was the same ol' with a bit of work and finally finishing my buddies roof and then off to get absolutely mutilated by the surf. Just when you think you're getting good at it, mother nature blows straight on-shore with a huge swell which equates into Michael getting man-handled. I'm thinking of pressing charges against mother earth for the abuse she put me through today. Waves were definitely 6ft + and some reaching close to 10. I will lick my wounds and see if I can get a little confidence back tomorrow. The wind was a bit closer to the much needed steady stuff, and if this is any indication of what the winter swell is going to be this year, I am in serious trouble... most excellent.
